June - Waterways

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw June's word was watersheds - the small tributaries that flow into larger ones, and finally into the bays and oceans.

The image here was made several years ago with UltraFractal 4.  The fractal was printed onto fabric and then machine quilted.  It's surprisingly hard to quilt a fractal image, as many parts of it have no real boundaries, and it's easy to get lost or trapped, despite prior planning.

But what about the yellow bits?  Sunlight reflecting on the waters?  Sandbars?  Pollution?  You choose.

waterways of life
creeks and streams feeding rivers
flowing to the sea

The question I ask myself is - Is this water or the blood system of which you speak? Beautiful piece anyway. Love the yellow highlight.

Looks to me like an aerial shot showing lakes and tributaries leading to the sea....
'Why hurry little river, why hurry to the sea, there is nothing there to do, but sink into the blue'... do you remember that poem? That is all I remember...I really like your piece.. maplike actually. And your quilting really makes it live as such.
Well done.

Martha,
Love this piece and I love fractals too:) You are so right about how hard they are to quilt!
I have never had one turn out like this...very cool!

This is a beautiful piece and so water like. All of the different shades of blue add depth to it and the yellow moves my eve around. Your quilting of it is great. Congratulations, job well done!

Beautiful rendition of waterways Martha! I love your fractal. A few years ago I took Fractal Fragments from Lily Kerns on QU. I learned a lot, but never could get the hang of those fractal generators. Kudos to you! Great haiku as well...
