Sheers Series #8: Rhapsody In Blue

SPARKLING AUTUMN SKIES
SHADES FROM AZURE TO SAPPHIRE
RHAPSODY IN BLUE

I am posting my piece unfinished, as I am leaving town again and won't be able to finish til I return home. It is all sheers, #8 in my series. This time I opted to use no fusible, so the pieces are all basted together right now. Not sure exactly how I will finish the edges...I have two or three ideas and will experiment when I can.

It measures 36"x27"

Thanks Pat for the beautiful word prompt!
Your comments and suggestions are as always gratefully received!

YIN AND YANG

My Haiku for July : Balance

Perfect harmony
Masculine and Feminine
The Yin and the Yang

I simply drew a couple of Zentangle type symbols for my journal this month. Too many challenges at the moment, LOL.

Sheers series #7: Waterfall

From over the edge
cascading, plummeting down
pooling crystal clear

This is #7 in my ongoing series of work entirely in sheers. The background is a watercolor print sheer. The waterfall is distressed (using a needle) organza with pieces of cellophane behind it to create the 'rainbow' effect. Micro glitter adds the sparkle of the water spray.
It measures 11"x15"

Thanks for another good challenge Kathy

Sheer Series #4 - FOG

Stealing silently
through the night, fog mists gather
softly caressing

I printed the image of the eagle in flight on organza using Digital Grounds, then appliqued it to the 2nd (middle) layer of organza and trimmed. The back layer is a "woodsy" print chiffon, Middle layer is striped/woodsy print organza and front/top layer is a grayed purple organza to create the misty, foggy appearance.

This picture is hanging on the wall, but it looks great hanging in the window, back-lit. I just couldn't get a decent picture...my camera insisted on focusing on the trees outside...LOL I will try again later when it's not so bright out.

Another fun haiku challenge.
Comments appreciated

April Haiku

Buds are blossoming

Yet Still snow is falling

Spring, why temporize?

This is suede cloth applique on silk dupioni. The snow flakes are hand embroidered and the cherry blossoms are made from a method I love to use: fuse your fabric to both sides of heavy duty aluminum foil and cut whatever shape you desire. They are attached with french knot centers. It's so much fun as you can bend and shape them and they stay that way!

The quilt is gallery wrap framed.

It measures 11x14

Golden Orb

My haiku and quilt are inspired by our glorious Sun. I hand stitched all the gold using gold aurora holoshimmer sewing thread. The rest of the piece was felted by hand using one fine felting needle and wool, silk and some specialty yarns held together with a little angelina for sparkle. It is mounted on black and gallery wrapped.

finished size 11"x14"

Love Will Prevail

Will the Earth survive
these catastrophic events?
Love, life will prevail
My technique for this quilt was, first, burn holes in your fabric...LOL I explained the story in the yahoo group. The 'holes' are filled with pieces from a silk tie, fused around the ragged edges. I used some aurora boriallis foil to add to the oil slick. It measures 13"x26"

Breathe

Frantic season passed

earth breathes deeply with a sigh

beginning anew

Cherie
In keeping with my desire to simplify this year (she say's tongue in cheek as she tries to keep up with the THREE new challenge groups this year, LOL), My interpretation is very simply a black silouette cut from glossy paper then collaged onto my hand dyed fabric and a few crystals added.
My thoughts were of the the feeling of deep relief that I get after the crazy frenzied Holiday season is over. I was thinking that the weather kind of followed the same path...crazy storms, intense cold and winds, then Jan- new year, and with a sigh all seemed to settle.
Contemplating the "word" yesterday as I was stitching my FFFC piece, my Haiku Mode went on overload and I had to keep stopping to jot down yet another 'beginning'. A total of twelve :-)
I am already sketching ideas for some of them for small quilts and will post if I get them done.
