Sheer Series #4 - FOG

Stealing silently
through the night, fog mists gather
softly caressing

I printed the image of the eagle in flight on organza using Digital Grounds, then appliqued it to the 2nd (middle) layer of organza and trimmed. The back layer is a "woodsy" print chiffon, Middle layer is striped/woodsy print organza and front/top layer is a grayed purple organza to create the misty, foggy appearance.

This picture is hanging on the wall, but it looks great hanging in the window, back-lit. I just couldn't get a decent picture...my camera insisted on focusing on the trees outside...LOL I will try again later when it's not so bright out.

Another fun haiku challenge.

I would love to see this in person Cherie.... do I understand correctly that it is 5 layers of organza? I have worked with organza, but only one layer... I must try this. So perfect for the Haiku...

Actually Carole, it's 3 layers (unless you want to count the eagle as one layer LOL ) I am working on a series of totally sheer pieces. This is the 4th. I have so many ideas sketched out I can't wait to get to them. All I need is about 10 more hours a day and I think I could do it ...Har

Cherie, I love your fog! Fog is really hard to photograph, and here you've captured it in fabric. I am impressed.

I concur with the rest of the comments left. The use of the layers of sheers is intriguing and totally captures the essense of your haiku. I will have to play with your technique. A very nice piece.

Totally effective Cherie! I'm intrigued by how you printed on the top layer. Was it Extravorganza? Or did you adhere your own organza to something to facilitate going through the printer? I've never used Digital Grounds for printing and will have to try that product next time instead of gel medium.

And your haiku captures the feeling of being in the midst of fog so perfectly.
