Haiku:
Waterways flowing
Friend and foe, rage and calm
An Orca pod plays
I went through the usual... writing down what the word brought to mind... especially since Kathy used the word 'ocean'...then focused on what had to be the most pleasant day trip of a lifetime. Hence my 'Orca's at Play'. On that trip, at one time I counted 25 dorsel fins above the water... then to hear the sound below the water as they communicated... well, what can I say, except 'AWESOME'!
I hope you enjoy my experience through this small vignette....
I used painted Steam-a-seam for the water, with a bit of color above and below. In keeping with my purpose so to speak, I again journalled and used a small bit of fabric.
Here is what the painted Steam-a-seam looked like before I cut ouit the piece I wanted.
I look forward to your comments...

Soft..... Hair
Soft for me is 'feminine'....
I thought of a lot of diffrent 'soft' things, downy chicks, kittens, and.... hair.
After thoughtful cogitation and several Haiku's [which will show up on my personal Haiku blog], I decided to use hair.... an d in particular.... silk. Nothing as soft as raw spun silk....
Haiku:
A woman's glory
Flowing gently from her head
As soft as spun silk.
I liked this idea because no matter where we live, our culture, color, race or creed... our
hair matters to us.... ask a hairdresser....

Procrastination challenge
Procrastination... something that used to irritate me when I watched this happening.
Schooled in the field of "Time Management' I often see procrastination as something to be longed for. I had to learn to set priorities, work at what needs doing using the 'swiss cheese' formula and make every moment count. It is actually amazing what can be accomplished using 'time management'.... sometimes to just procrastinate would feel good!
In my mind's eye I see procrastinationas a big hand blocking what I need to do... and sometimes it even demands my focus. I learned that 'Procrastination... is an enemy of time', and hence really don't spend much time with it.
With all that in mind, my Haiku came into focus:
'Eye' see you out there
Please! don't waste my time today
Come back when I am free
My interpretation: Journal using at least one piece of fabric. This fabric I had painted then 'marked' using Shiva Sticks... so it was a scrap, I traced my hand and cut it out.

March Sunshine
Sunshine warms my heart
the cockles flutter gently
TAKE! a pocketful....
I was sitting in the backyard enjoying the warm of the sun, listening to the birds sing, the bees buzz and watched a butterfly waft near... so peaceful, so serene... it just made me feel good inside... why, I thought can't I just take some of this.. and save it...
I wrote the Haiku and gradually put the piece together in my Journal book...
I used yellow tissue paper and paint... fabric scraps, scrapbook 'pretties' and an organza pouch for the pocket....
I look forward to your comments....

Romance.. ever the romantic...
Being the romantic that I am, I just had to do the 'romance' thing....Love , one of the strongest emotions known....I used a collage technique which include personal drawings, magazine cutouts, plastic rings and ... as promised... fabric. No stitching this time.
It is so hard to properly photograph a book, no matter what I do, it is never quite right!! Bear with me, by the time my year is up, I just may get it right.
Haiku:
Profound! A sweet bliss
Aflush with roses and rings
Hearts become entwined
OK... start counting... I left out one syllable in the first line on my pages!
It will be fixed.... also I photographed the two pages that make up each of my monthly Haiku Art, also, note I gilded the 'lily'... the word 'LOVE'.. I used an 18K gold pen. I love it!!

First Cup
I treat each day as a new 'beginning'... thoughtfully and in a meditative mode contemplating my good fortune at just being alive, hearing the birds sing, being with the love of my life [and much more]... all with my first cuppa... in my case, coffee.. and being glad I can enjoy it...
I will be doing all my Haiku Art for this year in journal fashion, each will be mixed media and will incorporate fabric somewhere.
Technique: I used dyed paper towel, painted Japanese rice paper, 'repurposed' [my word for 2011] painted and stitched batting... then my 'quilted to batting' coffee cup and saucer... and I did stitch it right to the paper.

Rejuvenation
Something special whenever
You hope for clear skies
