I will be doing all my Haiku Art for this year in journal fashion, each will be mixed media and will incorporate fabric somewhere.
Technique: I used dyed paper towel, painted Japanese rice paper, 'repurposed' [my word for 2011] painted and stitched batting... then my 'quilted to batting' coffee cup and saucer... and I did stitch it right to the paper.
Haiku poem:
Rejuvenation
Something special whenever
You hope for clear skies

Love the color and surprise of the movement.
Ahh I well understand the feelings that the "fist cup" brings with it.
The little particular I like most is the coffee inside the cup, and the movement feeling.
I like the idea of keeping the challenge in a journal...and I like the dots of color underneath the cup. Reminds me of flowers opening up to the sun.
Nice composition I like it very much.
Well done Carole! I love your adorable "floating" cup :-)

I love the use of a painted paper towel. The flowers at the bottom are charming and contrast nicely with the brighter, darker cup and saucer. Kind of like the ethereal and the real. This is really well done. I love the words and different fonts and freedom of expression.
thank you so much for the comments... I usually do not like to say too much about my work when I put it up... but I do appreciate the details noticed by you all. Yes... my floating cup... that is where my morning muse takes me... up, up and away....above the flowers below... as noted... yes 'something special'... my special time of the day.
