Balance
My found haiku reads:
they float through the air
dance on the tips of their toes
The dancers take joy
Rather than write a poem, I look through an old book and find phrases that go together (for haiku, you have to count the syllables). Then I take my X-acto knofe and cut away everything but the poem. Finally, I mount it on a board and embellish with other papers to make a collage. This piece was cut from an old encyclopedia.
As always Kathy I am blown away by your haiku! Your collage is terrific as well, but I am so enthralled by the use of old books and 'finding' these amazing poems. Such fun! This is my favorite collage so far as well...love it Cherie
Kathy, I agree with Cherie - this is my favorite collage as well. And I am fascinated by your method of "writing" the haiku. We have a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica from 1979 that we don't know what to do with....hmmmmmmm...
I think that this one really works well - the words seem to recede more than in the ones you previously posted? Still a presence, but with less of a focus?

What is meant by "found haiku"?

thanks, Cherie! I find this more challenging than writing a poem from scratch.

I greatly admire collage work, Kathleen, and this one is especially intriguing, what with the dancer and musical elements trying it all together.
I have a set of repro Britannicas from..., um, a century or so ago?, plus my 20 year old set. This gets me to thinking. Thanks for the inspiration!
